Highlights from Mission to Africa

July 8-20, 2007

Limuru, Kenya

This time I, under my pastor Tony Peaks of Open Door Church, took a missions trip to Limuru, Africa to minister to the pastors and Bible School students in the district. What a privilege it was to be a part of this team which consisted of my pastor, Pastor John Palmer, Casey Ragle, and myself. We had a great time even though we all got sick due to the extreme weather change going from summer here to winter there. We were still able to minister and the work of God is going strong there. Sharon Cranford is a mighty woman of God doing great things for the Kingdom of God in Limuru. She runs a Bible school with East African Ministries and is one of the most incredible missionaries I've ever met. We need to remember to pray for the missionaries and support them because they have a hard life but I know the rewards will be great. See the pictures below to get a glimpse into Kenya.

If you are interested in going on a trip like this or getting a group from your church to go, please contact me and I can get you started in the right direction.

Mission to Africa was an outreach of Open Door Church of Suffolk, Virginia

The main house Sharon lives in recently paid for by God's mighty hand.

The student dorms which holds 32 students.

The entire student body with us.

Thank God for the paid-off vehicle for the missionary Sharon Cranford!

Sharon on the left, Pastor Tony, Missionary David Cerrar, and brother Casey Ragle. We enjoyed a few nice meals while we were there.

We met with other missionaries the Priems, on the right, and pastors from Nakuru, Kenya.

Enjoying chai.

These are the crazy mutatus (taxis) that are more numerous than regular cars since most people cannot afford to buy a car. The mutatus are inexpensive but dangerous.

These are road spikes found at check points that the police set up often to look for bad folk.

Ladies washing their clothes.

The Great Rift Valley (and a donkey).

Nakuru Wildlife Park

These are homes for some of the children pictured above.

Pastor Nahashon Waweru who pastors Gikuni Christian Harvest Church

I got to minister in his church and we had a wonderful time.

The church people.

Another church we ministered in...Harvest Christian Church Ranguu.

This is the outside of the church. It was made of mud and sticks but it was one of the nicest churches we visited.

The inside. Those are colored cloths aboved used to decorate the churches.

Us enjoying a praise dance unto the Lord.

Us outside the church with many local pastors.

A rooster in one of the churches we ministered in.

A police man we met named James who told us about his life in Kenya.

The followin are pictures of Nakuru Wildlife park. We did get to go on a safari here the last day (our day off).
